The American Institute of Architects is a voluntary not-for-profit organization now representing over 86,000 members in 304 chapters or components across the United States. The national organization was founded in 1857 in New York City. The AIA works to provide its members with the services and support they need to function effectively in one of the most demanding professions in the world. The Institute is also committed to developing stronger public awareness of the value of architecture and the importance of good design. The mission of the AIA includes:
The AIA/Southern Oregon Chapter was founded on January 1, 1965. Over the last 40 years, the Chapter has grown and maintained an ongoing forum for practitioners, interns, and allied members. The AIA/Southern Oregon Chapter aspires to accomplish the national AIA mission and offers its members the following component services:
